| Joe Lane was born in Ramstein, West Germany, in 1956. He received his B.S. degree in Pharmacy with high honors from Auburn University in 1983. After a five-year career in clinical pharmacy, Joe entered the Florida State University School of Law and received his J.D. degree with high honors in 1990. While at Florida State, he received the College of Law Book Award for Trial Practice, and The Billings and Cunningham Book Award for Trial Advocacy.
In 1991, Joe began practicing in Dothan, Alabama, with Cherry & Givens, the firm that would eventually evolve (along with other established firms) into The Cochran Firm. Although Joe has handled and continues to handle a wide range of tort cases, he has focused his practice in the area of product's liability, representing clients in numerous jurisdictions across the Midwest, South and Eastern United States. Additionally, Joe has handled civil appeals in the United States Supreme Court, Federal Tenth Circuit, Federal Eleventh Circuit, the Alabama Civil Court of Appeals and the Alabama Supreme Court. In 2007, Mr. Lane received recognition from The National Law Journal for the Top 100 verdicts in toxic torts case. In 2008, Mr. Lane's law firm was listed on the National Law Journal's Plaintiff's Hot List in recognition of Mr. Lane's contribution to a $381 million dollar jury verdict in 2007. Mr. Lane was nationally honored by Public Justice Foundation as a 2008 Trial Lawyer of the Year Finalist. |
